NACMA's Objectives
The purpose of NACMA is to:
- provide trade services for grain commerce
- promote ethical conduct between members
- promote efficient, transparent market mechanisms
- forum for debate, education and communication
NACMA:
- Represents the commercial interests of Australian grain industry participants
- Provides:
- tools that enable the commercial activities of the Australian grain market to operate efficiently and effectively
- trade rules for grain contracts
- grains specifications to ensure objectivity on grain assessment
- an arbitration process for members
- Facilitates an industry forum to debate issues of national importance
- Is committed to improving the skills of members through education and ongoing professional development
- Represents members on industry Committees and Boards
| Strategic Direction 2004/05
Over the last year the NACMA financial base has been built and processes established for the core activities being:
- Grain Standards
- Trade Rules & Contracts
- Dispute Resolution Service
NACMA has the challenge to determine its strategic direction given issues such as the :
- changing grain trading environment with further mergers eroding the membership
base and potentially reducing liquidity in the market
- further deregulation of the marketing arrangements
- operations of the Grain Licensing Authority in Western Australia leading to increased
domestic competition within WA
- the possibility of issues coming form the Business Forum established under the
Single Vision project.
All of the above issues will impact on the services that NACMA needs to deliver to the industry.
The NACMA Board and management is tasked with determining the Strategic Direction of NACMA given the above issues. The following objectives give members an understanding of the direction that NACMA will take in 2004/2005.

Financial Sustainability |
Goal: Financial independence with sufficient resources to provide desired level of service to members
Objectives 2006/7: Financial independence with cash reserves equivalent to one years operating expenses for general administration & management of $250,000, by end of financial year 2006/2007.
Objectives 2005/6: Cash reserves of $225,000
Objectives 2004/5: Profit of $45,104 for the FY with cumulative cash reserves of $175,000, Reduce membership revenue as % of total revenue to 60% - 2003/2004 (not counting ABHA grant) – 86% | Products and Services |
Goal: Continue to introduce innovative and targeted products and services to meet member needs, leading to increased professionalism within the industry
Objectives 2004/5:

Increase revenue from commercial activities to 40% of total gross revenues

Conduct the Professional Development Program to include leadership course and continuation of existing courses. This package of services to generate $70,000 with minimum 25% profit

Introduce and promote NACMA Grain Producers Initiative to generate $50,000 with minimum 50% profit

Consideration be given to expanding arbitration activities to storage & handling, mediation roles with growers, requirements for futures arbitration services under FSR Act. | Membership |
Goal: To increase the % of industry participants who are direct members of NACMA
Objectives 2004/5: Increase direct membership to 60% of total membership up from 46% for 2003/4. | Member Communications |
Goal: To enhance existing and consider new communication systems to ensure NACMA is able to supply information regarding any and all commercial activities.

Goal: To ensure NACMA Board, Committees and secretariat are adequately resourced in a planned manner.
Objectives 2004/5:

Increase cash reserves to offer long-term contract for secretariat services/senior management, refer Financial Sustainability
